WESTERN U.P. PHOTO REQUEST from us. If you have any neat snomo pictures you’re willing to share,we’re looking for a cover shot for next years map and other marketing uses. Can’t pay but will give a photo credit on inside of map. Send in jpg to bigsnow@westernup.info. Be aware anything you send will become the property of the WUPCVB so this request is more for amateur photographers…in other words, don’t send anything you may want to sell in the future. We appreciate any help on this.

Snowman — This was a fun community project we did in Newberry
today. It was awesome! Before we were done people were stopping by
to take pictures of our snowman. It’s about 16′ tall and about 30′
feet around. It’s located on the west side of Newberry Avenue/M-123,
just the Police Post and two blocks south of the High School. —

Good afternoon,
Just a note to let you know the snow is still good in our neck of the woods. We’ve had a group in and they’re really happy with the amount of snow we have.
The trails are still okay. It’s 3:30 pm and the temp is 30, it’s really beautiful.
I’ve asked for a report from those that are here. I’ll let y’all know what they say a little later.

0Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 12/11
According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, Ironwood received the most snow in the U.P. during the recent storm from 10 pm Tuesday thru 7 am Thursday with 29.5″. Our season snowfall to day is around 42″… there’s more in some areas, less in others.
Groomers from the Gogebic Range Trail Authority, Gogebic Area Grooming and Watersmeet are all out working on the trails. Conditions will be “early season” as there are still wet areas(which all the snow is insulating)and the snow is very loose-warmer weekend temps should help in building bases – just want you to know this info so you don’t have any unrealistic expectations.
Keep in mind, although MI trails are open as of December 1st, they may or may not be groomed. WI Trails will open December 14th, snow and weather permitting.
Check out web cams throughout the area to see the snow amounts for yourself. Find links on our website at westernup.info
